Guitars

Here are some pictures of guitars that i have made for different clients over that last few years.

The guitar below is one I made for Lee Westwood (not the world famous golfer).

The guitar is a Flamenco guitar made of solid Cypress wood for the back and sides and European spruce for the top.

Here is another guitar that I made for Diana Plumer she is a folk singer and guitarist and she wanted a really special inlay on the back.

Inlay process
Here you can see the inlay process, the pieces are made from mother of pearl and abalone.

Here is a 7 string I made as a project and it was sold to the jazz guitarist Matt Wall from Brighton.

7 String back
The guitar is made from Indian rosewood back and sides and European spruce top, Cedrela neck and ebony fretboard, machine heads by Fustero. The guitar had a low B fitted to give that extra depth to the sound, perfect for chorinho music.

Rosette detail
The next guitar is another flamenco guitar, this time with traditional wooden tuning pegs which i also turned from some nice ebony blanks. The guitar was closely modeled on a  Manuel Reyes style guitar from the 1970's. The guitar is owned by Sylvia Saunders.

Back view
All the bindings and other details are also based on a typical Manuel Reyes with the back jointed with the same rosewood and veneer center strip design. The rosette also closely follows the colour and design of a Reyes but the central motif is taken from a baptistry in central Italy.
Lower bout feature
The finish in french polish with an orange and walnut dye added to the polish which is what Reyes also used. This feature on the lower bout joint of the guitar sides came about as a mistake when cutting the sides, but i liked it so much that i used it in some other guitars i made.
